Earth Day Lecture Re-cap

Thank you to all who joined us for our Earth Day Lecture featuring speaker Dudley W. Dudley. What an amazing turn out! Relevant now more than ever, Dudley shared her amazing tale of leading a citizen’s revolt to halt the plans of building the world's largest oil refinery on the shores of Great Bay and turning the Isles of Shoals into a super-port. Every year, youth ages 16–22 gather on Star Island for an entirely youth-led conference to create an open and welcoming community built on compassion, curiosity, and consent. The Youth Empowerment and Spirituality (YES) Conference is a rare opportunity to forge deeper connections with the people and the world around us, and to examine our lives on the “mainland” from the safety of a beautiful island miles away. Learn more about YES.

YES conferees organize and participate in exciting workshops, join nightly worships, and share meaningful conversations under the stars. We believe in providing youth with leadership opportunities that empower them to give back to their communities and beyond. Summers on Star Island are filled to the brim with unique memories, deep conversations, and connections that last a lifetime. We love being able foster the type of environment where these connections grow and flourish, but we know in our hearts that Star Island blossoms with love and knowledge because of the spectacular people who visit each summer. To all Shoalers, new and old, thank you for making our island home so special. Thank you for bringing with you compassion, knowledge, and enthusiasm and leaving with open minds and open hearts.

We are asking for your help in building this amazing community in 2018. Each year it is vital to introduce new friends and family to the island in order to secure a bright future of delight and wonderment for all. The more folks who join us, the more experiences, conversations and relationships we create. We look to you to help us achieve this goal.
